Thailand was the first ever Asian country that I visited back in 2007. Me, together with three of my high school classmates never really thought it out. One of them saw a travel package and before we knew it, we’re flying out of the Philippine islands for the first time, just mostly for the sake of it.
I can still remember how I felt as I saw the plane landing in Bangkok. I was so excited to be in another country. The thought of being in another place that has different people, food and culture made me giddy. As soon as I saw the Suvarnabhumi Airport, it was a realization of how third world the Philippines was. I imagined how NAIA would look like a warehouse next to it.
We stayed in Thailand for 2 nights and 3 days only, too short of a stay if you really would like to check out all the sites that are worth seeing. Because it was our first time to travel (though I don’t think it’s an excuse :P) we didn’t plan an our own itinerary and just depended on our travel guide. At one point of our tour in the city of Bangkok, we felt bored about the places where he was taking us so we decided to not join the other tourists and just go on on our own.
This was where this became very handy.
Most of our time were spent on buying pasalubongs. From packed food, to clothes, to figurines, name it, we bought it. My friends even had to find large boxes just for all the food they bought.
